hiking to pinnacles

Stole away from work and home recently to adventure with friend Michelle Hansen, RN at work, for a tramp on the Coromandel Peninsula.  A neat place called the Pinnacles, classic tramp, up to a ridge and then the rocky outcrop requiring climb up ladders even.  Such a delightful day I thought more tramping and less work a very good idea!!!  Enjoyed the time immensely, lots of NZ bush, great views out to the ocean, and delightful time getting to know new friend  :)

Here is Michelle crossing the swinging bridge

Manuka flowers.  These produce the most delectable honey, good for wounds as well!

The Pinnacles themselves

How we managed to the top

Heading down along previous railway used by loggers to get huge timbers down the slopes

Had the honor of attending Spokane friend Dawn Picken's marriage to Kiwi Pete in Pukahina.
What a joyous day for these two despite the epic rain all morning!

Maggie gets horizontal for the kiwi!

and of course there is another Kiwi in our midst, the new kitten, whom we have all come to adore and argue over.  Question is how will we get him back the States with us?  Hmmm, to be determined.
