skim boarding

Hey guys, let's go to beach and boogey board. Perfect day!

Sure, Mom.  Hey why do you think those skim boards are so dangerous?

Nothing about them looks very safe, so many people I know have broken bones on them.  

Really, Mom, looks like such fun.  How can you break a bone on that?

Guess they fall down a lot.....

And later that day after I had left the beach, leaving the boys to continue their water antics, Jack and friend Jaz arrive home, sun kissed and tired:  Hey Mom, you need to go pick up Noah at the beach, he can't walk home.  Says he hurt his foot.  

Hmmm, really, or is he just tired after the all the surfing he and I did?

Three days later I take him to the clinic and sure enough 2, maybe 3, broken bones in his foot from landing awkwardly while skim boarding.   Now in a walking boot, can't row in regatta this weekend, already bored to tears.  

 Tell me, what about this looks safe?? but they sure had fun!!!
